Has she retired? What the dates can say

It is one of the most common questions asked about Japanese performers in English, and it usually gets answered with rumour.
We are not going to do that. What we have is dates, and dates can answer a narrower question honestly: is more material likely to arrive here?

What the numbers look like
Of the 239 performers with pages on this site:
- 72 have had a new title in the last twelve months
- 145 have had nothing new for over two years
- 113 have had nothing new for over five years
So roughly six in ten are inactive here by any reasonable definition, and nearly half have been for half a decade.
What that does not mean
It does not mean they retired. It means this studio has not published new material with them.
Performers move between studios constantly. Someone with no title here since 2019 may have been working steadily somewhere else the entire time. The catalogue we can see is one studio’s output, not an industry-wide record.
It also does not tell you anything about a person’s life, plans, or reasons. We have no visibility into that, nobody writing in English does, and the confident answers you will find elsewhere are guesses dressed up as reporting.
Sex all day long 3What it does mean, practically
If you are deciding whether to follow someone, the last date is the single most useful number on the page.
A 2026 date means new titles are arriving. A 2017 date means what exists is what exists, and you are looking at a closed filmography — which is fine, and worth knowing before you start.
The median active span across all 239 is four years from first title to last. The longest is seventeen. Four years is the realistic expectation, not the exception.
How to read a break
A gap in the middle is not the same as a gap at the end. Several performers here have multi-year gaps and then resumed — one has titles from 2010 through to 2026 across a seventeen-year span.
The performer pages here show the first and last dates rather than a full timeline, which is a limitation. If the shape of the gap matters to you, the individual titles are dated and you can reconstruct it.
The Painful WombWhy we do not label anyone retired
Because we would be wrong, publicly, about a real person.
Someone described as retired who is still working has had a factual claim made about her career that we had no basis for. That is a different kind of error from a broken link, and the fact that this is adult material does not make it less of one.
So the pages say what we can support: how many titles, from when to when. What that means is left to you.
Where the dates come from
Release dates in the official catalogue. Every one of the 6,274 titles carries one, with six exceptions where the field is empty on the official side.
The first and last dates on a performer page are the earliest and latest of her credited titles. Nothing is interpolated and nothing is estimated.
The Undisclosed: Shy spring show 3If you want people who are currently working
The performers page lists all 239 with their dates. Twelve of the top 25 by title count have a 2026 title, which is the fastest way to a shortlist of people who are active right now.
For the opposite — a complete filmography you can work through without waiting — the inactive majority is the better place to look, and the five-year group in particular has finished catalogues that are not going to change.
The short version
- 145 of 239 have had no new title here in over two years
- That means inactive at this studio, not retired from the industry
- Median active span is four years; the longest is seventeen
- 72 performers have a title from the last twelve months
- We do not label anyone retired, because we would be publicly wrong about a real person
