Caribbeancom review: is it worth $44?

A film reel and editing scissors on a dark workbench — the studio produces most of its own catalogue

Most reviews of Caribbeancom were written by someone who never subscribed. You can tell because they all quote the same wrong price.

Must Read

The three-day trial covers the whole library. What it does and does not include, in plain terms.

Caribbeancom free trial: 3 days, everything

We took a different route. We fetched every title page on the site and counted what is actually there. This is what the numbers say.

This page contains affiliate links. Prices and plan details are what the official site showed in November 2026.

What you are actually buying

Caribbeancom is a subscription site for uncensored Japanese video. Not a tube site with a paywall bolted on, and not a reseller. The catalogue currently holds 6,274 titles, and new ones land four days a week — Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

The number that matters more than the total is this one: 5,107 titles are produced in-house. That is roughly four out of five. For the years 2021 through 2024 it is effectively all of them.

This is the difference between a studio and a shop. A reseller licenses the same catalogue everyone else licenses, so paying two of them gets you the same footage twice. Caribbeancom mostly shoots its own, which means the overlap with any other site is small.

The library is old, and that is not a complaint

Releases go back to 2001 without a single gap — no missing year, no missing month, across more than two decades.

That has an obvious downside. A title from 2005 was shot on 2005 equipment and looks it. If you start at the oldest end you will conclude the site is bad.

It also has a less obvious upside. Performers who worked in the 2000s and retired are still here, and nowhere else has them legitimately. If you have a name in mind from years ago, the odds are better here than on a site that only holds recent work.

Our advice is to start recent, decide whether the house style suits you, and only then go backwards.

Where the quality actually sits

The site shows a star rating on every title. Ignore it. 97.5% of the catalogue is rated four stars or higher, which means the rating separates almost nothing.

One comparison does carry signal. In-house productions average 4.60; everything else averages 4.38. Small, but consistent, and it points the same way as the production numbers.

Runtimes are stable in a way that surprised us. The median title runs 61 minutes, and that figure has barely moved in twenty years. 57% of titles run an hour or longer. If you are used to ten-minute clips, this is a different format.

Streaming resolutions, stated plainly

The official FAQ lists what you get:

  • 1080p — 1920×1080 at 4000kbps
  • 720p — 1280×720 at 1250kbps
  • 480p — 854×480 at 900kbps
  • 360p and 240p below that

Note that current plans are streaming only. Downloads are restricted to members on the legacy download plan, which is closed to new signups. Any review telling you to download your library is describing a plan you cannot buy.

What the site is bad at

Finding things. This is the honest weakness and it is worth understanding before you pay.

The catalogue is sorted into 73 categories, and the English site puts 63 of them in its menu. Seventeen have no English name at all — they appear as untranslated Japanese romaji, or not at all. Two of those seventeen are the largest categories in the entire catalogue.

Worse, the tag list shown on an individual title page is incomplete. A title can belong to a category and simply not display it. So the obvious move — find one you like, look at its tags, browse those — does not work reliably.

And 174 titles have no English name whatsoever. Blank. You are looking at a thumbnail and a date.

None of this makes the footage worse. It does mean that a large library is harder to use than it should be, which is most of why this site exists.

Who should not pay for this

Three groups, in our view.

If you want one specific title, a subscription is the wrong instrument. You will pay $44 for something you watch once.

If you need subtitles, be aware there are none. Roughly 490 titles are tagged for explicit dialogue as a feature — that feature is entirely in Japanese.

If you only watch short clips, a library where 57% of titles run over an hour is not built for you.

Who this is actually for

Someone who has been watching Japanese video on free sites, has decided the quality and the malware are not worth it, and wants the real catalogue at full resolution without hunting.

For that person the maths is simple: three days cost nothing, and the whole library is open during them. You are not being asked to trust a review, including this one.

Start with the free trial, watch four or five titles, and decide with your own eyes. The plans are there for afterwards.

The short version

  • 6,274 titles, 81% shot in-house, unbroken since 2001
  • Median runtime 61 minutes, stable for two decades
  • Star ratings are useless — 97.5% sit at four or above
  • Streaming only. Downloads are legacy members only
  • Navigation is the real weakness: 17 unnamed categories, 174 untitled releases
  • The trial costs $0 and covers everything, so there is no reason to guess

Every figure above comes from our own crawl of the official site, not from another affiliate’s page.
